Welcome to Jacksonville State University, where You Matter!

As the Vice President for Student Affairs, I am happy you joined the Gamecock family, and I want to let you know about programs and services provided by the Division of Student Affairs that are aimed at engaging you in the JSU experience.

Students who fully immerse themselves in college are more likely to be successful academically, socially and personally.  The Dean of Students Office oversees more than 100 student organizations and multiple outlets geared towards your involvement including the Student Government Association, and Fraternity & Sorority Life.  I also encourage students to live on campus. Connected students are more likely to be successful, so be sure to check out residence living options through University Housing & Residence Life.

aI urge first year students to stay active through University Recreation, where students can participate in Fitness Programs such as kickboxing, yoga, zumba and Intramurals including ultimate frisbee, basketball and inner tube water polo!  Also available at the UREC Center is a rock climbing wall, an indoor pool, an outdoor pool and indoor track.

The Division of Student Affairs is prepared to walk with you through your JSU experience, and we offer an array of services and programs that may be beneficial to you. Counseling Services offers free sessions in either one on one or group formats.

JSU is dedicated to maintaining an inclusive and equitable environment for all students. The Office of Diversity and Inclusion is dedicated to understanding and appreciating interdependence of humanity and cultures.

Community Standards and Student Ethics and Title IX uphold the general mission and goals of the institution, while recognizing and respecting the rights, privileges and responsibilities of all JSU students.

Students, you make a difference in our community, and You Matter to us!

At JSU... You Matter!

The JSU Division of Student Affairs launched the You Matter campaign in Fall 2017 to convey its core principle that all students are deserving of respect and dignity as individuals.  Regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national or ethnic origin, age, status as an individual with a disability, protected veteran status, genetic information or political affiliation, students matter at JSU.  For students, the JSU Division of Student Affairs exists to assist you with personal needs, advocate for your voice, listen to your suggestions, and engage you through the higher education lifespan.
