The Graduation Certification Advisor (GCA) advises and informs students of their progress toward graduation. Our number one goal is to assist students towards completion of their degree in a timely manner. To ensure this, we maintain accurate records of the student progress.

Graduation Certification Advisement can be completed in two ways: electronically for distant education students, or face-to-face appointments.

Graduation certification is the process by which the undergraduate students meets with their GCA and their progress is reviewed.  Once certified, they can be cleared for graduation. JSU requires this be completed the semester before the student plans to graduate to safeguard that the student graduates on schedule.

All students within the School of Arts & Humanities will need to schedule an appointment with Mrs. Barbara Cook at JSU requires that students meet with their Graduation Certification Advisor the semester BEFORE they plan to graduate to ensure they have information on all requirements needed to graduate.

JSU requires ALL students to take the EPP Exit Exam during their last semester.  EPP Exit Exam Information

Major Field Exam (MFAT) is administered during the graduating semester and in accordance with accreditation standards.  Registration information and dates for the MFAT will be announced by each department and distributed to students who have followed application instructions.

All students must apply for graduation by the deadline posted by JSU. This is during the term before they plan on completing degree requirements. There will be a $50.00 non-refundable charge to your account when you apply. Make sure you are applying for the right term.

For help applying for graduation, the Registrar's office web page has detailed instructions to assist you.
